MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS
alzheimer's disease
the most common cause of dementia. this disease is mostly seen in people over the age of 65.
bipolar disorder
a disorder characterized by episodes of increased mental and physical activity [mania]alternating with episodes of depression.
dementia
a disorder characterised by a loss of intellectual activities, abilities, including memory, judgment as well as personality.
dysthymia
a less severe type of depression.
post-traumatic stress disorder
a disorder characterisd by mental health symptoms following a traumatic event that is generally outside the range of usual human experience.
stepped care
an intervention that consists of a number of components.for example group education, monitoring of symptoms and a structured drug programme, delivered on the basis of the needs of the person.
